What You Need Before You Start
- At least 2-3 inches of your own hair
- About 4-5 hours. You can ask a friend to help
- The video guide that comes with your full set
- Nothing to prepare. Your set arrives ready to install: no boiling, no vinegar, no prep
How It Works
Your hair is divided into sections, and one double ended dread is braided into each section. No glue, no heat.
My video guide shows the correct sectioning and the installation from start to finish, step by step.
Where the Guide Is
Scan the QR code on the card inside your package. The guide opens on your phone.
The guide comes free with every full set of 50 or 60 DE. I sell it separately for $30. Accent sets of 10 or 20 DE do not include it.
The First Days
- For the first 3-5 days your scalp may feel tight or itchy while you adjust to the installation
- Avoid scratching with your nails. Gently massage with your fingertips in small circles instead
- For the first 2-3 days, avoid tight ponytails
- Loosen your hairstyle at night. One or two loose braids are comfortable for sleeping
- Protect your partings from direct sun during the first 1-2 weeks with a hat, scarf or headband

A stylist can install your set too. Timing depends on their experience. Their fee is separate, so ask for a quote before you book.

When You Take It Out
Work on one dread at a time, and wash your hair right after removal. DE sets are reusable: wash your set in the wash bag and install it again. The full steps are in the Installation & Care guide.
